The New mySchool Issue Tracker

We are thrilled to announce the release of the mySchool Issue Tracker website. Schools that have purchased optional value-added services, separate to their LGfL/TRUSTnet subscription can now visit the Issue Tracker website to send their queries to a member of the Support Team.

Originally designed to help school staff communicate with their on-site technicians, the Issue Tracker has now been given added functionality to empower all staff members to raise cases on-line.

Previously, school staff needed to collaborate with a Nominated Contact if they wanted to obtain help from the Support Team. The release of mySchool Issue Tracker now reduces this need, making it possible for all staff members to raise queries through this dedicated site.

The site is found at https://tracker.atomwide.com. User access is controlled via the same LGfL USO (Unified Sign On) account that is used to access other LGfL/TRUSTnet services, such as StaffMail.

Currently the website offers the ability to get help on any of the following services:

AutoText

Digital Signage

Users should be advised that cases raised through the mySchool Issue Tracker website may be referred to the schools Nominated Contact where administrative changes are being requested.

We hope that you will find this a useful addition to the services you currently benefit from.

To be kept up-to-date and informed of any future announcements of this nature, we recommend that you download the ParentComms:Mobile app

Secure file transfer to non-USO users

USO-FX has been enhanced to allow staff in LGfL 2.0 schools and LAs to ‘Push’ documents securely to non-USO users (e.g. health service officials). USO-FX previously allowed files to be received from non-USO users via the ‘Invite a file’ feature but files could not be returned.

Now, the ‘Invite a file’ feature can be used in conjunction with the new ‘Push a file’ functionality. This means that USO-FX can support secure two-way communication with individuals not subscribing to USO directly, though action must be initiated by a USO account holder.

The new ‘Push a file’ feature uses a combination of the recipient’s email address and a PIN code sent to their mobile device by text message or ParentLink:Mobile data message.

A sender can access ‘Push a file’ via the USO Support Site by picking the ‘Push a file’ option from the main USO-FX menu.  The sender may include a document, or just a simple text-only message. The recipient will receive an email with a single-use web link. The web page will then ask for a PIN code before allowing the user to securely access the document or message.

Other UK schools and LAs that subscribe to USO-AutoText also have access to this feature.

Support Site structure for Headteachers

The LGfL USO Support Site contains pages which can be viewed and acted on only by Headteachers. To assist Headteachers in finding all the relevant pages, they have been grouped together into logical cut down menus to be displayed via a simplified interface in the Support Site. The feature is designed to guide a Headteacher’s attention to only the pages, information, and decisions that are specifically related to, or dependent upon, them.

Some of the functionality available to Headteachers can be accessed and configured only by individuals with registered OTP tags. These are only required for individual processes that typically represent a network security risk, rather than a data protection one. Such services currently include the online signing up of Nominated Contacts and the request to give Option 2 status to a school.

The re-organised view of the support site can be accessed by clicking on the link titled “Switch to basic menus” which appears in the top line of the Support Site. The option may also be used by others to simplify their view and so is not actually labelled as being purely for Heads. The last mode of view chosen is ‘remembered’ for subsequent sessions. The link can be used to toggle between the two different views as needed.
